Christchurch, 15 years later. Here’s what we’re seeing.
February marks 15 years since the 2011 earthquakes — a moment in time that changed Christchurch forever.
It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come.
From empty lots and road cones to a city that now feels vibrant, confident, and quietly ambitious. New hospitality spots. Regenerated spaces. Families backing themselves. Businesses investing.
Christchurch genuinely feels like the place to be.
That said, we’re not “finished.” There are still empty sites. Infrastructure frustrations pop up regularly. And the ongoing delays with the Cathedral rebuild are a pretty clear reminder that some parts of our recovery are still a work in progress. Progress hasn’t been perfect — and it hasn’t been even.
But when you zoom out, the shift is undeniable.
Lately, I’ve been receiving more enquiries from people overseas asking what it’s like to live here — some considering a move, others looking to return home. That kind of interest is a great testament to how far the city has come.
🔍 Market snapshot – January 2025
Buyer demand is up across all three districts.
Christchurch shows strong price growth.
Selwyn is balanced, with steady demand and stable conditions.
Waimakariri is tightening, with record pricing and fewer new listings.
Don’t read too much into the average days on market. A lot of these properties would have hit the market in November.

👋 Meet Jack Cook
We’re stoked to welcome our newest team member — Jack Cook.
Jack first reached out to me when he was about to start his real estate certificate. He wanted to understand what a career in real estate really involves, so we caught up. Not long after, he was turning up to open homes and on-site auctions, delivering flyers, knocking on doors, and asking smart questions.
That initiative told me a lot.
Jack is genuinely curious, proactive, and committed to understanding the Christchurch market from the ground up — which ultimately benefits the buyers and sellers we work with.
We’re excited to have him on the team and looking forward to what’s ahead.
Give him a follow and show him some love.

📍 We’ve got a new home base
You’ll now find us working out Powerhouse, a shared workspace at 114 Peterborough Street.
It’s a great spot with plenty of parking, and we’ve really enjoyed getting to mix with a range of different people. Our office even has a view of the Town Hall.
And as a serious added bonus: Jack, who started this place up, does amazing baking. We consider this a strategic advantage.
If you’re nearby, come say hello — we’d love to see you. And if you’re on the hunt for a workspace yourself, Powerhouse is well worth a look. We’re very happy to make an introduction.
🤔 Selling soon?
Let’s build your plan.
